When I was a child a trip to Baskin-Robbins was a big deal. There weren’t any close by, so it was always a special treat for the family to get into the car and “go for ice cream” I remember always opening the car door, after the long drive, to the blast furnace outside and rushing to get into the cool of Baskin-Robbins. And of course I had to seriously look at all the ice cream in the freezer before making those important decision… cone or cup, two scoops or one? Now a part of my childhood is being ripped away!! Baskin-Robbins has announced they are retiring French Vanilla Ice Cream. How can this be? French Vanilla never to caress another cone or dribble down a little chin… I am heartbroken. Dare I think of it? Poor French Vanilla, shivering, alone, shoved into the back to spend eternity in frigid storage. Is this the way to treat an old friend… a cherished memory from our childhood…..
