Cry me a river - the tale of the non-depositing poker player

Recently a Texaswheel member posted a sad account of what happens to many an online poker player.

Playing in freerolls and not being a depositing player can mean you will never be able to cashout any winnings. Because the poker site is providing the free money they set the rules and for many that means non-depositing poker players must rollover the freeroll winnings before they can be withdrawn. Even if after winning the freeroll money you deposit... the non-depositor freeroll winnings takes precident. Now your deposit is stuck until you clear the freeroll monies.

Two things I do before playing at an online poker site:
  • Read the TOS
  • Deposit - unless I'm going for the deposit bonus I will deposit the minimum
Unless the depositing option I used disappears (like Neteller and ePassport) depositing sets up a withdraw path. Depositing also means any moneys I earn shouldn't have to be cleared. I say shouldn't as DGS had changed their rules that all freeroll monies won - even if a depositing player - required some amount of play to withdraw.

The times have changed since UGIEA and several deposit/withdraw methods exist for USA poker players. So... today there really isn't an excuse not to be a depositing player...

So, plan on suffering the consequences if you win freeroll monies and aren't a depositing player.

How easy is it to avoid the consequences? Setting up an ewallet account is worth the time and effort. Depositing to ThirdBullet on the Cake Network or CarbonPoker on the Merge network means no problems later making a withdrawl. Plus the minium deposit is as low as $10

So, cry me a river .... its so easy to avoid all that grief
